Angela Schisano, mezzosoprano

Angela Schisano, mezzosoprano, born and raised in Sorrento (Naples, Italy), graduated cum laude at the Conservatorio San Pietro a Majella in Naples. She studied with Raina Kabaivanska (at Accademia Musicale Chigiana and Sofia National Opera and Ballet) and Renata Scotto (at Teatro dell’Opera Giocosa di Savona.)

In 2018 she made her first-ever debut in Rossini’s La Cenerentola (Angelina) directed by Gianmaria Aliverta with Marco Alibrando as conductor, with great critical acclaims; Then she made her debut as La Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi at Teatro Coccia in Novara. In 2019 she sang again the role of La Cenerentola (OradiOpera) at Teatro Regio in Torino; in the same year she was Mrs. Noye in Britten’s The Noye’s Fludde at Teatro F. Cilea in Reggio Calabria.

In 2020-2021 she has been a member of the Young Artist Program of Teatro dell’Opera in Roma and took part in important productions such as: Tchaikovsky’s Onegin (Olga, cover) conducted by James Conlon and directed by Robert Carsen, Verdi’s Rigoletto (Maddalena, cover) conducted by Daniele Gatti with the direction of Damiano Michieletto, Lehár’s Die lustige Witwe (Olga) conducted by Stefano Montanari.
She also debuted in the Film-Opera of Verdi’s La Traviata (Annina), alongside Lisette Oropesa in the title role, directed by Mario Martone and conducted by Daniele Gatti, which was broadcast on RAI channels.
In addition, she performed in concerts on various important occasions: the Opening Concert for the 150th of “Roma Capitale” Anniversary; solo mezzosoprano in Schubertiade for solo and chorus broadcast on OperaRomaTV; the three concerts which took place in Rome at La Nuvola for the restart of TOR after covid19, in which she sang arias by Gluck, Mozart, Rossini and Donizetti, conducted by Gianluca Capuano e Fabio Biondi.
She played in the Opera-Film “Farnese Suite” broadcast on RAI5 and OperaRoma.TV, built in collaboration with the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, the Opéra National de Paris and the France Embassy, in which she sang the Marguerite’s aria from Berlioz’s La damnation de Faust.

In 2021 she has been part of Menotti’s La Medium (Mrs Nolan) signed by Reate Festival and built in collaboration with the theaters of Rieti, Trapani and Savona.
She returned to Teatro dell’Opera di Roma for the Janàcek’s Kata Kabanova (Feklusa) conducted by David Robertson, directed by Richard Jones. In the same year she performed in the Opera-Show that opened the Donizetti Festival in Bergamo.

In 2022 for the Reate Festival (recorded for Dynamic) she took part in Cimarosa’s Le astuzie femminili (Leonora) conducted by Alessandro De Marchi; she returned in Bergamo for the Donizetti Festival 2022, participating to the productions of Chiara o Serafina and covering Léonor in La Favorite conducted by Riccardo Frizza and directed by Valentina Carrasco.

In 2023 she debuted the role of Rosina in Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro Vittorio Emanuele in Benevento; In the same year she took her Rosina in concert at Castel Franco in Miscano (BN) conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano.
