The internationally acclaimed Croatian soprano Lana Kos has captivated audiences worldwide with her commanding stage presence, striking beauty, and an opulent voice spanning three octaves. A true operatic sensation, she made a stunning debut at just 17 years old as the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, and since then, she has conquered the world's most prestigious stages. Kos has graced renowned opera houses, including Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Teatro Carlo Felice in Genova, Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, Teatro Verdi di Trieste, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari, Teatro Real in Madrid, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm, Municipal Theatre of São Paulo in Brazil, National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, Guangzhou Opera House, and has been a standout performer at legendary festivals such as Arena di Verona, Torre del Lago, Savonlinna Festival (Finland), and the Macao International Music Festival. The 2023-2024 season saw Kos shine in Manon Lescaut at Teatro Verdi di Trieste and Teatro Comunale di Bologna. Upcoming engagements in 2024/2025 season include her anticipated performances as Cio-Cio San in Madama Butterfly at the Tokyo Spring Festival and Desdemona in Otello at Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania. In the 2022-2023 season, she enchanted audiences in Il Trovatore at the Japan Opera Festival, La Traviata at Teatro Principal in Mallorca, Turandot (Liù) at the Taormina Festival, and took on new challenges with her debut as Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus and the title role in Tosca. Kos made history as the youngest soloist ever appointed at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, where she signed a four-year contract in 2006. During her tenure, she showcased her versatility across multiple languages and collaborated with some of the world's most esteemed conductors, including Kirill Petrenko, Daniele Gatti, Kent Nagano, Marco Armiliato, Nicola Luisotti, James Conlon, Fabio Luisi, and Daniel Oren. A defining moment in her career came with her breathtaking debut as Violetta in La Traviata at the Arena di Verona, first under the baton of M° Carlo Rizzi, and later in Hugo de Ana’s production conducted by M° Andrea Battistoni. Kos is celebrated for her iconic interpretations of Violetta (La Traviata), Alice (Falstaff), Mimì (La Bohème), and leading roles in Roméo et Juliette, Lucia di Lammermoor, Luisa Miller, La Rondine (Magda), as well as powerhouse roles such as Manon Lescaut, Micaëla (Carmen), Desdemona (Otello), Leonora (Il Trovatore), Liù (Turandot), and Tatjana (Eugene Onegin). Looking ahead, she will make highly anticipated debuts in the title role of Rusalka and as Nedda in I Pagliacciin future seasons. With her stunning vocal prowess and magnetic presence, Lana Kos continues to leave an indelible mark on the operatic world, earning her place among the most sought-after sopranos of her generation.
