Luke Terence Scott shines with Verdi at the Bayreuther Festspiele
The rising Scottish baritone Luke Terence Scott performed last August 25th in the Final Concert of the Bayreuther Festspiele Academy, gaining a brilliant success of public and critics, that praised his performance ofl Rodrigo’s aria from Giuseppe Verdi’s Don Carlo.
The critic Frank Piontek commented on the renowned magazine Der Opernfreund: «Luke Terence Scott shone in the Italian subject with Rodrigo's "O Carlo ascolta"; one would like to know how and whether the singer will interpret a Rodrigo in ten or twenty years, but there is already a lot of strength in the interpretation. Striking here as elsewhere: the lyrical sobs in some passages.»
Last June Scott made his debut at the Prague National Opera, performing the main role in the world premiere of Ogres by Šimon Voseček. Among the future engagements is notable the debut at the Helsinki Finnish National Opera, performing Mr. Pilkington in Animal Farm by Raskatov, in the production by Damiano Michieletto.
