Born in Chongqing, China, winner of the Chinese Government scholarship, he graduated in Singing at the Conservatorio «G. Verdi» Turin. Winner of the international competition “Don Giovanni” for the role of the Commendatore and made his debut at age of 20. Subsequently he made his debut in various Italian theaters in the roles of Sparafucile (Rigoletto), Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte) and the Frate (Don Carlo). He has collaborated with numerous internationally renowned conductors and directors. Renzo Ran has performed in major opera houses and festivals in Italy and abroad, including the Teatro Regio di Torino, Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Fondazione Arena di Verona, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Arena Sferisterio di Macerata, Teatro Municipale di Piacenza, Teatro Comunale Luciano Pavarotti-Freni di Modena, Teatro Pergolesi di Jesi, Teatro Giuseppe Verdi di Salerno, Belvedere di San Leucio di Caserta, Teatro Grande di Brescia, Teatro Sociale di Como, Teatro Ponchielli di Cremona, Teatro Fraschini di Pavia, Teatro Municipale Valli di Reggio Emilia, Teatro dell’Aquila di Fermo, Teatro Sociale di Mantova, Fondazione Haydn Stiftung of Bolzano and Trento, Teatro Zandonai di Rovereto, as well as the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing. Renzo Ran’s operatic repertoire already performed includes Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte) and Commendatore (Don Giovanni), followed by Alidoro (La Cenerentola), Sparafucile (Rigoletto), Zuniga (Carmen), Uncle Bonze (Madama Butterfly), Angelotti (Tosca), Don Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Hans Schwarz (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), Simone (Gianni Schicchi), Niceros (Satyricon), Ramfis and Il Re d’Egitto (Aida), the Grand Inquisitor and the Monk (Don Carlo), La voce di Nettuno(Idomeneo), Périchaud and Rabonnier (La Rondine )and Pluto (La favola di Orfeo), and the Father Superior in The Color of the Sun (world premiere). In 2016 he started operatic career at the age of 23, debuted in the role of Alidoro in La Cenerentola, Pluto in La favola di Orfeo, Die Zauberflöte at the Teatro Regio in Turin. Between 2017 and 2018 he debuted the role of Zuniga in Carmen at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, the Father Superior in The Color of the Sun (absolute world premiere) at the Pergolesi Theater in Jesi and at the Luciano Pavarotti Theater in Modena. Uncle Bonzo in Madama Butterfly first at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari then at the Belvedere di San Leucio in Caserta with the Teatro Giuseppe Verdi in Salerno. Between 2018 and 2019 he debuted the role of Hanz Schwarz in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the National Center of Performing Art of Beijing, where he returned as Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Idomeneo at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Aida in busseto with Teatro regio di Parma for Verdi and Tosca with Angelotti in opera Festival at the San Carlo Theater in Naples. In 2020 and 2021 he returned with Lo zio bonzo in Madama Butterfly at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari. The Commendatore in Don Giovanni at the Zandonai Theater in Rovereto. Debut at the Teatro Maggio Musicale Fiorentino with his bonze uncle in Madama Butterfly. Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte at the Social Theater of Como, Teatro Grande in Brescia, Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona, Teatro Fraschini in Pavia. Teatro Valli in Regio Emilia.
