Transylvanian soprano Valentina Puskás joins the Jette Parker Artist Programme at the Royal Opera House in 2023. Since then, she has had her debut as Adina in Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’amore, jumped in as Nedda in Leoncavallo’s I Pagliacci and as the Dew Fairy in Humperdink’s Hänsel und Gretel. She was the 5th Maid in the new Pappano/Loy production of Elektra by Richard Strauss at the beginning of 2024. She then sang the roles of Eleonore/First Attendant in Les Larmes de Couteau/A Full Moon in March (Martinů Bohuslav/Harbison John) in the Linbury Theater, the Jette Parker Production, following a stream of great press reviews (The Times, The Guardian, The Stage, Opera Today etc.). She joins the Japan tour as the cover for Liù in Andrei Șerban’s rendition of Turandot by Giacomo Puccini). During her first year at the ROH, she has worked and sang with important names of the classical music world: M° Antonio Pappano, M° Daniel Oren, M° Sesto Quatrini, to name a few. She got her masters degree in singing from the National University of Music l Bucharest. She was trained by prof. univ. dr. Lavinia Cherecheș. Before joining the Royal Opera, she has debued as Contessa Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Miskolc State Theatre in Hungary. She sang across many important romanian stages, such as Bucharest National Opera, National Romanian Opera Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania Phillharmonic, Oradea State Phillharmonic, Deva State Theatre and Petrosani State Theatre. She was awarded the Grand Prize at „Elite” International Music Competition (Iași, Romania 2021) and 2nd prize at „Musicum Laude” International Competition (Oradea, Romania 2021). Her second year as a Jette Parker was filled with more exciting projects, such as: Karolka in Jenufa, Dew Fairy in Hansel und Gretel, Ines in Il Trovatore. The end of her young artist journey culminates with the role of Micaela in Carmen (G. Bizet) at the end of the season. After graduating from the Jette Parker Artist Programme, she has had her debut as Musetta in La Boheme at Cluj-Napoca National Opera, Romania in December 2025, and as Giorgietta in Il Tabarro at Teatro dei Rinnovati a Siena, Italy in March 2026, and a return to Cluj-Napoca for her Donna Elvira debut in Don Giovanni in April 2026. She has also been accepted in the Opera for Peace, for the September 2026 workshop in Lugano, Switzerland. Next season she will have her debut and a cover run as Leonora in Il Trovatore at Budapest Opera in May 2027.
