Xiangjie Liu is a rising Chinese soprano recognized for her expressive artistry and vocal versatility across pure Coloratura and Belcanto repertoire. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Opera Singing from the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing, where she was a multiple recipient of the National Scholarship for academic and artistic excellence. Since 2024, Liu has been based in Vienna, taking a decisive step towards her career and starting to perform on the international stages. Recently she was invited to sing the eighth movement of Earth Home, a symphonic concert conducted by Wang Ning, at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. In 2025, she made her debut at the Krakow Royal Opera Festival as Isabella in Rossini’s L’inganno felice, conducted by Claudia Patanè and directed by Jochen Schönleber—a role she is scheduled to reprise later in the summer 2025 at the Rossini in Wildbad Belcanto Opera Festival. Liu’s early career highlights include her performance as the Female Reporter in the contemporary opera Orfeo, presented by the Beijing Music Festival in collaboration with emerging composers and directors. The production was staged at the Red Hall in Beijing’s Sanlitun district. Her operatic roles encompass a wide stylistic range and include Serpetta (La finta giardiniera), the Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte), Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Norina (Don Pasquale), and Zijun in Shangshi by Shi Guangnan. She has also prepared major lyric coloratura roles such as Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), Gilda (Rigoletto), and Ophélie (Hamlet by Ambroise Thomas). Ms. Liu has enriched her training through international masterclasses with renowned artists including Umberto Finazzi and Lucia Rizzi. Her achievements include First Prize at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Shanghai, the Gold Medal at the Korea-China Music Festival in Beijing, and support from the China National Arts Fund.
