Jona closes the TBMF directing Handel's Israel in Egypt

On November 12 the Turin Baroque Music Festival will close its 3rd edition with Handel's Israel in Egypt, directed by Alberto Jona, at the Teatro del Collegio San Giuseppe in Turin.

The new production, a collaboration between Jona and the theatre company Controluce Teatro d'Ombre (of which he is the founder), will be the preview of the 200th anniversary celebrations of the Museo Egizio.

The performance of Handel's oratorio at 9 pm will be preceded at 8 pm by a dialogue between music and history, moderated by Cristina Santarelli, lecturer at the Istituto dei Beni Musicali del Piemonte.

The orchestra of the Accademia del Santo Spirito will be conducted by Maestro Robert King, founder of the famous baroque orchestra The King's Consort.

Jona is not new to the Baroque, having dedicated himself to this repertoire and chamber music as a singer. He has worked regularly with the Semana de Musica Religiosa de Cuenca (Spain) in the staging of oratorios and has collaborated with leading artists such as Jordi Savall and Fabio Biondi.
