Per-Otto Johansson opens his season conducting La Fanciulla del West
On September 13th, the Swedish conductor Per-Otto Johansson opens the 2024/2025 season of the Landestheater Detmold (of which he is General Music Director) conducting La Fanciulla del West by Giacomo Puccini.

In addition, the Landestheater Detmold will bring the production to the Theater Wolfsburg (October 29) and the Theater im Park in Bad Oeynhausen (April 27).
On the stage Eleonore Manguerre as Minnie, Ji-Woon Kim as Dick Johnson and Johan Spungin as Jack Rance.
The production is directed by Kay Link.
It is the first time that Johansson faces the monumental score, and it is the crowning of the Puccini’s celebrations in Detmold, which opened last year with Turandot, also conducted by Maestro Johansson. This long-awaited debut highlights Johansson’s affinity with Puccini, after his direction of Turandot (performed with the Alfano I Finale) met the great enthusiasm of audience and critics. The Neue Musikzeitung praised the “almost unlimited richness of colors”, while the critic Herbert Büttiker wrote that “the essential gesture, the wide range of dynamics, as well as the accuracy of the complex framework, make Puccini’s fascinating music as if it were heard for the first time”.
