Last April Diana Alexe made her Italian debut, achieving extraordinary success as Violetta in Verdi’s La Traviata at the Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari.
Alexe’s portrayal of Violetta in the magnificent production by Sofia Coppola, with costumes by Valentino and conducted baton of Maestro Jordi Bernàcerhas been highly praised by both audiences and the press:
“Diana Alexe delivers a Violetta of striking intensity and assured technique, navigating the character’s shifting emotional landscape with compelling dramatic coherence.”
Carlo Coppola
“A finely assembled vocal cast, crowned by the dazzling vocal brilliance of Diana Alexe. […] We were absolutely impressed by this young Violetta, whose exceptional virtuosity and commanding agility mark her as a talent destined for major recognition as her career unfolds.”
Alessandro Romanelli
“Violetta, Diana Alexe, intelligently embodied the Verdi-like dualism between lightness and tragedy: brilliant, with agile coloratura in the first act; veiled and introspective in the third, with a handling of phrasing - that expressive shaping of sound from note to note - that drew more than one sigh from the audience. Verdi demanded “Parola scenica”: every note in service of the word, every word in service of the action. Last night at the Teatro Petruzzelli, that principle was alive. Very much alive.”

Alexe’s upcoming engagements include Juliette in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette and her roles debut as Adina in L’Elisir d’amore, Mimì in La Bohème, the title role of Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda and Pamina in Die Zauberflöte.
