November 8/9/10: Michał Sławecki returns to Tokyo for Keeping Flowers Alive
On November 8/9/10 the countertenor Michał Sławecki returns to Tokyo for giving his voice to the new artistic installation by Katarzyna Krakowiak, Keeping Flowers Alive, at the Sogetsu Plaza, headquarters of the Sogetsu Art Foundation. The project is realized in collaboration with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Zachęta National Gallery of Art and with the support of the Polish Institute of Tokyo.
Krakowiak ideated an immersive experience based on the intersection of architecture and sound in the fascinating set of the stone garden designed by Isamu Noguchi. Krakowiak defined her installation as “Acoustic Ikebana” meaning a electro-acoustic realisation of the traditional Japanese art of arranging flowers.
Sławecki will be joined by Isabelle Duthoit, Ashtma and Yuusari. They will be surrounded by performances of Hikaru Kawasaki and KAi MiWA.
The Polish countertenor returns to Tokyo after his personal success in the main character of Kaija Saariaho’s Only The Sound Remains at the Bunka Kaikan.
