The Chinese tenor Anle Gou, described by Wiener Merker as “one of the most brilliant Rossini tenors of the new generation,” returns to the stage of the Opera Națională Română din Cluj-Napoca to perform the role of Conte Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia.
Gou made his role debut last year in the same production and, on this occasion, he will be reunited with baritone Mihai Damian as Figaro, recreating the duo that already captivated audiences in the capital of Transylvania.
This season, Gou is set to make his debut in Handel’s Messiah in and in Il turco in Italia at the Glyndebourne Festival, where he will return as Almaviva in the fall of 2026.
