On April 10/12/15, 2025, Romanian soprano Diana Alexe will make her house debut at the Lithuanian Opera and Ballet Theatre of Vilnius, performing Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto, in the majestic production by Franco Zeffirelli.
In the title role the Italian renowned baritone Simone Piazzola, while Merunas Vitulskis will perform the Duke of Mantua. Conductors Martynas Staskus and Ricardas Sumila will alternate on the podium.
Alexe has been described as one of the most brilliant soprano of her generation, reviving the glory of her country’s voices. She debuted Gilda at the Romanian National Opera of Cluj-Napoca in 2020 and It shortly became one of her signature roles, with Violetta in La Traviata and Juliette in Gounod’s masterpiece.
In the next seasons she is set to debut Elvira in Puritani, Rosina in Mozart’s La Finta Semplice and to reprise her Violetta.
“I am really happy to make my debut in Vilnius singing Gilda, one of my favourite roles, and with wonderful colleagues. I am excited also to sing in the staging by Franco Zeffirelli, which was his last production, designed before his passing in 2019.”
